David Shawcross
I was born to be a Chartered Accountant, following in my Father’s footsteps.
After qualifying with Coopers and Lybrand (in the last century!) I spent a short time as an audit senior at Andersons, the successor firm to C&L in Middlesbrough. I joined Barrowcliff Hamer in 1992 and soon progressed to a partnership role. I was instrumental in the merger of Barrowcliff Hamer with Andersons to create Anderson Barrowcliff in 2000.
Whilst specialising in tax and corporate finance I continue to help a broad range of clients and am well known in the area for practical, client focused advice aimed at supporting and enabling clients. Problem solving has been said to be my forte.
Outside of work I am an enthusiastic and talented amateur musician. Playing the euphonium since the age of 11 I have been fortunate enough to play for some of the area’s best brass bands. My passion has always been my local village band (originally Lingdale Silver Band, now Lockwood Brass) where I have played for over 40 years. My involvement has played a small part in the band’s success at a local, national and international level. I was instrumental in the band competing in the French Open Championships were we have had many success, including that I was crowned French Open Solo Champion on two occasions.
I am married with three children; Lewis, Kieran and Sam. I have always enjoyed sharing in their sporting and musical successes and I am now the proud Grandpa of Arthur, my first grandchild. Home and family have always been central to my “down-time” and I enjoy nothing better than spending time cooking for and hosting family events.
I continue to be inspired by my Father, a dedicated and exceptional Chartered Accountant and a supportive and generous family man.
