Andrew Dewing
Having stumbled into the accountancy profession shortly after completing my A-Levels at Prior Pursglove College in Guisborough, I soon came to the really rather surprising realisation that not only could I do it, I actually rather enjoyed it! But then, I suppose, my close friends will tell you I always had the potential to be quite boring!
My accountancy education started at Barrowcliff Hamer back in 1994, progressing from chief tea-maker to a more technical role, before completing my apprenticeship a few years later and then moving on to my professional studies, gaining my professional qualification in early 2001, very shortly before the firm merged to become the much larger Anderson Barrowcliff.
Resident at the firm for over 25 years, I was made an Associate in 2010, eventually reaching the lofty heights of partner in 2015!
I look after a large portfolio of clients across many sectors but over the years have developed particular specialisms in both the property and legal sectors. I also take an active role in the running of the firm and thoroughly enjoy the challenges that arise on a daily basis.
Away from the office I am married to a rather wonderful lady called Catherine and between us (it was mainly her) we’ve managed to raise a couple of rather splendid children, a son Matthew and a netball loving daughter Zoe. We are a sport loving family (basically anything that involves balls or wheels) with football, netball and F1 taking up almost all of our weekends. I also occasionally enjoy digging up local golf courses one shot at a time with my trusty 7 iron!
My favourite things are music by proper bands playing proper instruments, meat, beer and spending time with family and friends. A perfect day would involve all of these things at the same time.
My pet hates are writing about myself, noisy drunks (unless it’s me) and inappropriate flippancy.
My favourite quote is ‘why do today what you can put off until tomorrow’. Or something like that anyway…
