Sam Algie

I started my career in accountancy with Anderson Barrowcliff in September 2020, following completion of my Masters’ degree in Mathematics from York. I was drawn to Anderson Barrowcliff as the job presented a great opportunity to put the analytical strengths I developed at university to good use.

Since then, I have been involved primarily in Anderson Barrowcliff’s Audit department, and have had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients across a range of sectors to help assess, identify, develop and streamline their day-to-day accounting processes. Perks of the job include (in no particular order): travelling to a variety of locations to meet clients, learning how a client’s business runs from the bottom up and coffees made by clients which taste much nicer than the ones I make myself!

In my spare time, I play plenty of music. My first instrument is the piano, but I occasionally play guitar, ukulele and the melodica, albeit not as well! I also enjoy the occasional book, film or video game to wind down at the end of the day. Personal favourites are Adam McKay’s 2015 film “The Big Short”, Stephen Hawking’s classic “A Brief History of Time”, and Quantic’s “Detroit: Become Human.”

I also enjoy a wide range of sports, following Middlesbrough FC, the Buffalo Bills in the American NFL, and am an avid fan of featherweight, middleweight and heavyweight boxing.
