I moved from working in industry to join Anderson Barrowcliff’s outsourcing department in August 2018, supporting clients both locally and further afield with their day-to-day financial procedures from bookkeeping and payroll to VAT returns, cash flow forecasting and management accounting.
Workdays are spent both at the office and out at clients’ workplaces, allowing me to interact with and assist in a diverse range of SMEs operating within various sectors and training our clients’ personnel ranging from admin support staff to financial controllers.
The most satisfying aspect of my job is working with businesses to ensure their finances are running as smoothly and efficiently as possible, maximising the benefit that technology offers and minimising human error and time spent on administrative tasks. Ensuring that my clients are working smarter, not harder, is imperative to them getting the most value out of their accounting procedures.
Outside of work I’ve recently gotten back into running, both conventional jogging and the more extreme “Freerunning” which incorporates climbing and acrobatics and was a key part of my teenage years. I can also be found either playing pool or table tennis upstairs on a lunchtime but I’m not particularly adept at either one! I enjoy cooking and have a fondness for incredibly spicy food. I have beaten a few restaurant spice challenges and recently created my first homemade hot sauce.
I’m a lifelong fan of hard rock and heavy metal and my favourite band is Metallica, having seen them in concert once and hoping to do so again. My favourite books are the Harry Potter series and my favourite films are the first six episodes of Star Wars.
My favourite quote is: “The only true wisdom is in knowing that you know nothing.” ― Socrates
