North East Accountancy ‘Number 1’ heralds from Teesside

TALENTED accountancy student, James Dale, has been crowned New Accountant of the Year 2009 at the Nigel Wright North East Accountancy Awards.

James was victorious in one of the most fiercely contested  categories with the judges commenting on his ‘enthusiasm’ and ‘potential’ as qualities which set him apart from the other very talented nominees .

Anderson Barrowcliff partner, Nick Upton said: “James is one of our rising stars and I am delighted that the award judges recognised the talent and spark that we have all seen in him.

“James was recently promoted within the team and this award is testament to the great career he has ahead of him.”

	James Dale receives the 2009 North East New Accountant of the Year from Tracy Wilson, managing director of BPP Newcastle.

The award and promotion follows a successful 12 months for 26-year old James. As part of his accountancy training and development programme, James recently learnt that he had scored 19th globally in one of his exams (number one in the North East) out of 27,000 students worldwide who sat the financial management paper.

Originally from Marske-by-the-Sea, James joined the team 18 months ago, having previously worked in Yarm. He will complete his studies by the end of this year, when he sits his final four exam papers.

James said: “The award ceremony was really impressive – a little like a mini Oscars ceremony.

“As part of the judging process, I had to submit a written document detailing my work, followed up by a gruelling interview with the judges. I am thrilled to have won this award - it is a very welcome surprise to have my work recognised in this way.”

James is one of seven student accountants employed by Anderson Barrowcliff. As a training office, the firm provides a full-package of support to students including mentoring, funded tuition and regular specialist training workshops.
