Not the Olympics 2012 Campaign

Challenge completed and the torch has been successfully passed on by our own Bridget Jones !

What a glorious day on Thursday 2nd June for our leg of the UK200 Group challenge and it was just a crying shame that several of the team members had to endure the delights of the Whitby moors and bask in the hot sunshine while tearing down the road in an MK Indy Ford Kit car ! Sometimes it’s just a hard day at the office but it was all done in the name of Charity and the Alzheimer’s Society.

The first part of our relay was run by Chris Dickinson who was cheered off by fellow team members (those of us who prefer to exercise our lungs rather than our legs!) and he completed his 4 mile run to Middlesbrough train station in a very respectable 35 minutes which is not an easy task in the hot sunshine.

At the train station, Chris then passed the torch onto Pauline Robinson and Karen Winspear who then proceeded to get the train to Grosmont We should add at this point that flags were dispensed to unsuspecting children on the platform – so hang on to them kids – that’s a part of Anderson Barrowcliff history that you have there ! We wanted to do something a little different and take in the scenic views on our way so Pauline and Karen then embarked upon the Grosmont to Pickering steam train where they had their own personal carriage, waved the flags from the train and made sure everyone on the platform saw them leaving, if they had somehow managed to miss them arriving ! It was an entertaining journey and I think the train conductor (a Mr Bright Sparks as he introduced himself) will remember them.

On disembarking at Pickering train station, Pauline was met by fellow team member James Dale as unfortunately the bright yellow MK Indy Ford Kit car (supplied by Mathewsons of Thornton le Dale : www.mathewsons.co.uk) could only accommodate one Bridget Jones (our very own Karen Winspear) and a driver. So from this point Karen proceeded to carry the torch, despite the windswept hair,  until we reached our destination at Coulsons Chartered Accountants in Scarborough.

So with our leg of the challenge completed now, the remaining task is to raise as much money as we can for this very worthwhile charity.
