Anderson Barrowcliff was established in 2001 by a merger of two longstanding established practices and today as a Limited Liability Partnership, we continue to build on our enviable reputation for providing excellent advice and first class service to our business and personal clients alike. We have many clients in the local community and service businesses, small and large, across many sectors including:

- the construction industry;
- manufacturers;

- charity and not for profit organizations.
As well as general accountancy, audit and tax skills, our seven partners also have individual specialist skills which enable us to provide clients with a first class service as and when required. Beverley Blakey
Beverley advises a wide ranging portfolio of clients, which includes businesses in the manufacturing, leisure & tourism, high tech, professional services and charity sectors. Her main areas of responsibility are Audit Assurance, Business Development, In-house Training and Personnel issues.
Beverley qualified in 1987 whilst working for Coopers & Lybrand and became a partner in Andersons in 1992. “Client service is my main priority. We love to provide a first rate service delivered within our clients timescales and within their financial constraints - it’s certainly a challenge at times!”
Beverley is married to Ian, a Chartered Civil Engineer and has 2 children. She is an active member of the Teesside Society of Chartered Accountants and was its Chairman in 2003/04. Beverley has recently been appointed as Treasurer of Red House school. Her long term ambition is to accumulate enough money to retire and live half the year in the French Alps during the ski season and the rest of the year in sunnier climates.

Jerome Bury
Jerome qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990. Apart from a short spell with a firm of venture capital consultants, he has worked in pratice, as a manager and partner, as well as running his own practice, before joining Anderson Barrowcliff LLP in 2003.
“I have experience in a wide range of accountancy, audit and taxation services and have looked after a number of clients in the retail, construction industry, property development and charitable sectors. I have developed a particular interest in financial services work.
I am married with two children. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading (when I can find the time), cooking (and eating), and holidays in the sun.”

Brian Douglass
Brian has spent all his working life in public practice. After gaining a Business Studies degree from Teesside Polytechnic in 1988 he joined an East Cleveland firm of Chartered Accountants and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1995.
Brian joined the firm as a audit manager in April 2000 and was appointed a partner in April 2005, with particular responsibility for accounting and taxation to a mixed portfolio of clients in the business services department of the firm.
Away from the office Brian’s spare time is spent as a long suffering supporter of both Middlesbrough Football Club and Yorkshire Cricket Club, he also enjoys reading and photography.

David Robertson
David joined Anderson Barrowcliff LLP in 1997 as an audit manager, having previously trained with KPMG in Newcastle. He was appointed a partner in April 2000 and is our audit compliance partner.
His varied workload is centred around providing audit and accounting services to a wide variety of clients, including numerous charities and educational establishments. David is an advisory member of a charity client’s internal audit committee and is a member of both the UK 200 Charities Group and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Charity and Voluntary Sector Group.
Family and sport take most of David’s spare time “I am one of the few Newcastle United supporters within the office, but I don’t shout too loudly about my shared allegiance to Grimsby Town”. David is a member of Darlington Round Table and until recently a governor at his local primary school.

Richard Robinson
Richard is the Senior Partner at Anderson Barrowcliff LLP and heads the Corporate Finance team.
Richard specialises in acquisitions, sales, mergers, capital reconstructions and international fund raising. He is also Director and Non-Executive Company Secretary to the board of a listed PLC, past president of the UK 200 Group and Deputy Chairman of East India Club London.

David Shawcross
David rejoined Barrowcliff Hamer & Co in 1992 after qualifying locally with Coopers & Lybrand. David had previously worked for the firm in his student days, and was instrumental in the merger with Andersons, having worked with both Richard and Beverley during his time at Coopers & Lybrand.
Initially acting as an audit manager, David was appointed partner in the firm in 1994 and is currently responsible for a mixed portfolio of clients, including many significant owner-managed businesses in Teesside . A major part of David’s current professional life is concerned with developing the firms Corporate Finance activities. David is a member of the ICAEW Audit Faculty and Information Technology Faculty and is actively involved in the firm’s taxation department.
David’s spare time is spent playing in and conducting one of the areas most successful brass bands.

Nick Upton
Nick is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Academy of Experts.
“I joined Barrowcliff Hamer & Co., the predecessor to the current firm, in 1989 as an audit manager and was appointed partner in October 1990. My main responsibilities involve providing accountancy, auditing, taxation and business services to a wide variety of clients. I have special responsibility for forensic accounting and litigation services within the firm and I am on the UK 200 Group’s panel. In addition to this I am a business mentor for the Prince’s Youth Business Trust.
My spare time is spent watching Middlesbrough Football Club and listening to music.
